BitOffer institute: Ethereum miners' daily earnings soared 60%, ETF earning over 85 times

On June 27, Ethereum miners earned about $1.85 per 100 (MH/s) per day. In the past month, especially in the last two weeks, the income rose by 60%, reaching a peak of $3.27 per 100 MH/s on July 25, before falling back to around $3.
Over the same period, the price of ETH has risen more than 40%, from $229 on June 27 to $327.99, which is a new high for 2020.
On July 22, the total market value of decentralized Financial DeFi passed $11.5 billion. The massive hype of DeFi caused a surge in trading volume in ETH, which, along with the surge in trading volume from ETH, pushed miners’ daily income to its highest level in two years.
Etherscan, a blockchain browser, shows that the entire computing power of the Ethereum blockchain, the world’s second-largest by market value, has been stable at around 190 petahash per second. Indeed, data from Bitinfocharts show that in the first quarter of this year, Ethereum’s daily mining revenue was below $2 per 100 MH/s before falling to $1 per 100 MH/s on March 12 after the cryptographic market collapsed. Ethereum’s daily mining revenues have tripled in recent months.
Currently, some of the most advanced ETH mining equipment, such as the core A10 Pro, which has a 500-megabit hash per second (MH/s) computing power and a power ratio of 1.9w/m, generates $13 per day at Ethereum’s current price and mining difficulty. Based on the miner’s profitability level, and A10 Pro Ethereum miner’s daily power consumption is about 1.1 dollars, and its daily net profit is nearly 12 dollars.
Even though bitcoin’s price topping $11,000 for the first time since September 2019, the difficulty of mining bitcoin remains at an all-time high. As a result, even the most efficient bitcoin miners, such as MicroBT’s WhatsMiner M30S ++ and Bitmaint’s AntMiner S19 Pro, generate $9 in daily income. Based on the current price of bitcoin and the difficulty of mining it, a more efficient Bitcoin miner (within 40w/T power ratio) generates about $6.50 in net profits per day. Ethereum miners earn about $13 a day, which is twice as Bitcoin miners.
Since the launch of DeFi, it has received a lot of attention from investment institutions and individual investors. Currently, DeFi Wallet has been downloaded more than 5,000 times, far more than any other type of DAPP, it is the number one DAPP developed based on Ethereum. According to the popularity and the current download speed, in the next few months, the downloading number will break through 6000 and bring a sufficient number of volumes for the ETH. Meanwhile, as the ETH 2.0 launch date approximation, these two advantages will boost the price of ETH, the income of the ETH miners will be at the appointed time with increased, which gradually widening the income gap with BTC miner.
It is the best time to invest in Ethereum.
However, buying BitOffer’s Ethereum ETF Ethereum is better than buying a future, in which profits start at a minimum of three times. Besides, it also includes an intelligent dynamic position reallocation mechanism and the calculation of fund compound interest with the returns of up to 17 times.
In the latest week, the Ethereum ETF (ETH3X) has jumped 160% from a peak of $6 to $16, according to data analysis from the BitOffer Exchange. With the launch of DeFi and ETH 2.0, once Ethereum rises more than fivefold over the next few months, the ETH3X could rise as much as 85 times.
If you buy Ethereum for $10,000, and ETH goes up fivefold, you can maximum make a fivefold profit, Which from $10,000 to $50,000. But buying ETH3X is a different story. Once Ethereum increases fivefold, you can make up to 85 times, which would be from $10,000 to $850,000, the 17 times than buying futures, more than over $800,000. Buying the Ethereum ETF would be a better deal.

Bitcoin Private (BTCP) Is Easy to 51 Percent Attack and Has a Hidden 2.04 Million Coin Premine

https://cryptoiq.co/bitcoin-private-btcp-is-easy-to-51-percent-attack-and-has-a-hidden-2-04-million-coin-premine/
The War On Shitcoins Episode 8: Bitcoin Private (BTCP). The war on shitcoins is a Crypto.IQ series that targets and shoots down cryptocurrencies that are not worth investing in either due to their being scams, having serious design flaws, being centralized, or in general just being worthless copies of other cryptocurrencies. There are thousands of shitcoins that are ruining the markets, and Crypto.IQ intends to expose all of them. The crypto space needs an exorcism, and we are happy to provide it.
Bitcoin Private (BTCP) is one of numerous Bitcoin forks but is perhaps one of the more well-known forks. Bitcoin Private (BTCP) launched in March 2018, and in April, briefly attained a market cap of $1.5 billion. However, Bitcoin Private (BTCP) is a good example of how market cap is a poor measure of the legitimacy or usefulness of a cryptocurrency.
In October, a hacker live streamed a 51 percent attack against Bitcoin Private (BTCP) for fun, using hash power rented from a cloud mining site. Now it has come to light that the Bitcoin Private developer team minted an extra 2.04 million BTCP during the genesis fork and hid this fact from the public. Essentially, Bitcoin Private (BTCP) is a shitcoin because it lacks security and has corrupt developers, as we’ll explain in this article.
Anyone Could 51 percent Attack Bitcoin Private (BTCP)
A hacker who uses the pseudonym “Geocold” wanted to prove to the world how easy it is to 51 percent attack a cryptocurrency, even a cryptocurrency with a market cap in excess of $50 million at the time, one like Bitcoin Private (BTCP).
Perhaps Geocold was inspired by Crypto51, a website that calculates how affordable it is to perform a 51 percent attack on various cryptocurrencies. Currently Bitcoin Private is still extremely vulnerable to a 51 percent attack since the total network hash rate is seven MH/s and uses the equihash algorithm.
Crypto51 indicates it costs a mere $48 to 51 percent attack Bitcoin Private (BTCP) for an hour, so perhaps for less than $200 a hacker could perform a sustained and devastating attack that would decimate Bitcoin Private (BTCP). It seems like most major exchanges have delisted Bitcoin Private (BTCP) after Geocold’s initial livestream, but several exchanges still offer Bitcoin Private (BTCP), which is a true disservice to their customers and puts the exchange itself at risk.
The Geocold livestream 51 percent attack of Bitcoin Private (BTCP) caused a media frenzy in the crypto space. Many thought it should be illegal to attack a cryptocurrency, and indeed Twitch and Stream.me banned Geocold’s account. Geocold obtained 62.5 percent of the Bitcoin Private (BTCP) hash rate and was successfully mining blocks and was ready to perform the double spend attack, but he only stopped because he lost his streaming account.
As we’ve mentioned, anyone with $50 and a little programming knowledge could perform a successful 51 percent double spend attack on Bitcoin Private (BTCP). Geocold was doing the crypto space a service by exposing this truth. In general, people should do research before investing or trading a cryptocurrency to ensure it is actually secure. In this case, Bitcoin Private (BTCP) obviously lacks security, yet it still has a market cap of tens of millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of dollars of daily trading volume.
Bitcoin Private (BTCP) Developers Secretly Premined 2.04 Million Coins
The fact that Bitcoin Private (BTCP) can be so easily attacked makes it a shitcoin, but the revelation that the developers secretly mined 2.04 million BTCP during the genesis fork is the nail in the coffin.
The whole idea behind Bitcoin Private is that it is Bitcoin integrated with Zclassic (similar to Zcash) privacy technology. This means there are stealth addresses and transparent addresses. The developers used this to their advantage, they minted 2.04 million BTCP and hid it in stealth addresses. Further, the developers released supply auditing checks for BTCP that purposely missed the hidden premine.
It has been over 9 months since Bitcoin Private launched, and this is only being discovered now. The total supply of Bitcoin Private (BTCP) is supposed to be 21 million coins like Bitcoin, but there are already 22.6 million BTCP in existence and mining continues.
It appears 300,000 BTCP from the hidden premine were dumped onto the market between July and August, coinciding with a price crash from $10 to $3. It is estimated that these dumped BTCP from the hidden premine netted the developers between $1 million and $3 million, while simultaneously the total BTCP market cap lost over $100 million.
There is nothing to stop the developers from dumping the other 1.74 million BTCP that they have in their not-so-hidden premine. The market is reacting to this revelation, and the price of BTCP has dropped to $2. If the developers were to actually cash out this premine all at once it would completely saturate the order books and drop the price of BTCP to near zero.
Even at this lower price the market cap of Bitcoin Private (BTCP) is in excess of $40 million. This makes zero sense for a cryptocurrency that can easily be 51 percent attacked by any script kiddie, while simultaneously the market could be sucked dry at any moment by the corrupt developers.

The power behind Viacoin's merged mining

Let's talk about the power behind merged mining. (Auxiliary proof of work - AuxPOW)
Very simple: you mine for instance Litecoin and can mine at the same time Viacoin without losing hashrate.
But we are going to make an example.
Look at the Hashrate of Viacoin let say it is around 50 TH/s. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/via/
We take the Antminer L3+ as the miner for the whole Viacoin network.
The Antminer L3+ produces around 500 MH/s and it uses 800 watts.
This means that we need 100.000 Antminers to come at a network hashrate of 50 TH/s.The whole system of 100.000 Antminers are using 80.000.000 watts. (800 watt x 100.000)
These 80.000.000 watts x 24 Hours will result in 1920000 kWh.Let say the power costs are $0.15 per kWh is a total-cost of $12000 per HOUR !
To run the Viacoin network on your own with 50 TH/s will give you a electricity bill of $288,000.00 per DAY ! And than we even not talked about the equipment costs.
https://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/viacoin-mining-calculato?h=50000000000.00&p=80000000&pc=0.15&pf=0.00&d=329994.01552825&r=0.03906250&er=0.00008391&btcer=3714.30000000&hc=0.00
In the link i put in all the correct data and you can see it for your self, what it actually will costs to run the whole Viacoin network.
--------------------
At a price as Viacoin is today, you will lose 105 M dollar in 1 year to run the network.
If Viacoin was not AuxPOW the price for 1 Viacoin should be around 2400 dollars each, just to make the mining profitable.
And with this in mind you can see the enormous benefits behind Viacoin's merged mining.
It is not only secure but it also brings sustainability, and provides, that you are paying a fair price for your coin.
Not a single company has benefits to give Viacoin an artificial price, that's why you pay for Viacoin $0,30 and not $2400,-
And with a lot of cryptocurrencies there is a lot of money involved, and the actual buyers are paying the price.
When you buy Viacoin you know for sure that the price is originated by supply and demand, and personally with other cryptocurrencies i have so my doubts.
Other article that you might be interested in to read about merged mining:
  1. https://medium.com/altcoin-magazine/merged-mining-how-dual-mining-of-cryptocurrencies-works-98323ea57529

And than we can talk about the huge energy-costs of mining, and people will say yes but proof of stake and masternodes......
The problem with those algorithms is that it creates an elite-status to early investors, those people are untouchable until they decide to step out, and there even can be SIMILARITIES found with a ponzi-scheme, i am not saying it is a 1 on 1 ponzi.
Let say someone paid 5 dollar for a masternode and the 10th man paid $500 and the 10000th man paid $500000 dollars because this is what happens, the first people are untouchable and only generates money, the last is paying a big price and can wait 300 years to earn his investment back.Same is for proof of stake it only generates money for the team behind the coin or early investors.
It only can be considered fair and efficient when the pay-out for those algorithms is ZERO.
----------
Than you have people that say, yes but than cryptocurrency in general is a ponzi, well...
Do you consider gold as a ponzi?
I know for sure those people who bought gold, didnt get any extra gold by only holding it.And the same you can apply on POW.
1.WORK PAYS
2.DETERMINATION PAYS
But we were talking about the energy costs.
---------
Energy costs.
A lot of people are talking about the energy waste of proof of work systems, it is a point, but their is one big ''but''.
Can you name me one industry where there is no environmental footprint?
I personally realy dont know.
When you drive a car, metal must mined and gasoline must come out of the ground, when you in a plain and go on vacation etc.. etc..
Not going to deep in this stuff because it is endless.
But those same people are saying that proof of work is a waste of energy, while they fly around the world, and than they suddenly don't care about the environmental footprint they as a human leave behind and the flight industry they support?
I am in fact for a greener world, but for that, there a change is needed not only in the world industry but also in the world economy.
I see AuxPOW as a green step to an ''existing problem'' because it thrives only on the energy from other blockchains, and not use electricity on it's own.
And when the blockchain industry evolves, their will be new solutions, and when Bitcoin, Litecoin or any other can implement such new solutions, to this problem, than also Viacoin can implement it.

Thank you for reading.

Is Cloud Mining More Profitable than Bitcoin Mining Hardware?

Getting started with bitcoin mining can be a difficult process for many. For example, you must consider things like the specific algorithm used by the Proof-of-Work cryptocurrency you want to mine. Additionally, bitcoin mining hardware can cost thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars. With all of these challenges it might be a good idea to look at alternative ways to gain cryptocurrency profits, but is cloud mining a legit, more profitable option in the long-run? In this article, we’ll compare these two possible options so you can make a more informed decision.
Costs of Bitcoin Mining Hardware
As discussed in this post, bitcoin mining hardware generally requires a substantial upfront financial commitment on the part of miners. First, it’s important to consider how much mining rigs cost. This not only depends on the cryptocurrency which you are aiming to mine but also how expansive and powerful your mining operation needs to be.
First, let’s consider hardware costs. If you want to mine BTC, for example, you’ll most likely need an ASIC mining rig. These are typically much more expensive compared to GPU and CPU mining rigs. Despite their potential to mine at much faster hash rates, ASIC mining rigs often face scrutiny for the fact that they cannot be repurposed. This means that, if a cryptocurrency project makes changes to their hash algorithms, ASIC miners will have to buy new gear. This can lead to some significant costs that can easily negate revenues and even lead to net investment losses.
In contrast, GPU and CPU mining gear can generally be repurposed if algorithm changes occur. In addition, these rigs are usually much less than their ASIC counterparts. Additionally, more projects are continuing to trend towards ASIC-resistance rather than ASIC-acceptance. For most miners, this means an overall reduction in both upfront and ongoing costs.
While having one mining rig might be a good first step to see if you can indeed become profitable, many people start out with more rigs to have a multiplier effect. However, even with rising prices, starting with multiple rigs should be done cautiously as each additional rig will likely add to the number of months it takes to make back your initial investment.
Of course, other factors like electric bill costs have to be considered. These vary by geographic area, making it difficult to put a precise amount on how much money is needed for keeping hardware rigs operations.
Costs of IT Cloud Mining
In comparison to hardware mining, costs for IT cloud mining are much simpler to calculate. Most companies run on a monthly subscription model that is determined by the cryptocurrency you want to mine and the hash rate speeds as seen on popular sites like Genesis Mining and HashFlare.
Prices for 2-year contracts of ETH mining with Genesis Mining currently vary from $1,520 at 40 MH/s to $12,960 at 360 MH/s.
HashFlare offers 1-year contracts of ETH mining for $1.80 per 100 KH/s.
Make sure to read reviews and check out projected ROI on any cloud mining service. The fact is that there are many services with extremely low profitability and even some which are known scams. Luckily, there are a few guides available on the best ways to identify potential cloud mining scams.
Hardware Mining ROI
Even though there is no way to say for certain how long it will take to break even on investments in hardware mining equipment or cloud mining, it’s still crucial to do research on estimated time frames. According to most miners, it’s difficult to expect to become profitable within 3 to 6 months. 10-15 months is realistic for many, though. A lot depends on crypto prices, electric costs, and the type of mining rig you use. Nicehash provides a good calculator for determining this.
IT Cloud Mining ROI
Based on information from Reddit forums, reviews, and ROI calculators, it is clear to see that cloud mining isn’t all that popular or profitable. For example, as of May 30, 2018, HashFlare Scrypt and SHA-256 currently take 3,828 and 3,983 days (or a little over 10 years) to reach ROI on BTC respectively according to this calculator from Coinstaker. Genesis Mining for ETH has an even worse ROI, taking around 25,992 days (70+ years). In both cases, it’s difficult to justify cloud mining over hardware mining.
The problem with keeping a subscription for cloud mining is that it can be difficult to keep paying monthly even in bear markets. These stats could certainly improve if we see a massive bull run as seen in December 2017; however, it can be pretty difficult to predict when a bull market will begin and end.
Compare this to using bitcoin mining hardware, and the choice is a bit more obvious. That’s because, even if the market is bear, most costs are upfront and not recurring. Sure, there are costs like electric bills to consider with hardware mining, but there are several locations throughout the world where energy consumption is very cheap and hardware mining is legal, making it a clearly more profitable option than cloud mining even in bear markets.
Conclusion
Despite the high upfront costs, the consensus is that bitcoin mining hardware remains much more profitable than cloud mining. Possibly the biggest benefit of cloud mining is its overall ease-of-use since it requires no difficult hardware installation and avoids potentially unpredictable electric costs. However, most in the cryptocurrency community would agree that if you can’t start a hardware mining operation, it’s probably best to make profits through trading rather than going the cloud mining route.

Bitcoin Mining Profits: Crypto Mining Hardware or Cloud Mining Pools?

Can Cloud Mining Be More Profitable Than Getting Mining Hardware For Bitcoin?
The process of crypto mining demands a lot of preparation, no matter which cryptocurrency you choose. Mining Bitcoin (BTC), however, requires even more.
If you are a Bitcoin miner, or you at least researched the issue, you probably quickly realized that this is quite a difficult process. There a lot of aspects of the process that need to be considered, like the Proof-of-Work’s mining algorithm, fees, and hashing power. Not to mention the extremely expensive equipment that is necessary in order to do it.
However, there is another option which may be more profitable, and that is cloud mining. But is it really the best way to go? Let us find out.
Bitcoin Miningining: Hardware & Cost
Let’s start with the necessary mining hardware. In order to mine Bitcoin, you cannot just use anything, and in order to get a quality device, you will have to prepare quite a sum in advance.
Bitcoin mining hardware can cost from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands of dollars. The price largely depends on which crypto you wish to mine (in this case, Bitcoin), as well as how big of a mining operation you are planning.
The cost of a mining rig depends on which one you want. You might go for an ASIC mining rig, or a GPU and CPU mining rigs. ASIC mining rig is usually far more expensive, and their hash rates are a lot faster. However, they are known for facing scrutiny due to the fact that you cannot repurpose them.
Basically, if the hash algorithm of the blockchain changes, your ASIC rig will become pretty much useless, and you will have to acquire new gear. Obviously, this is the most expensive solution.
GPU and CPU gear, on the other hand, can be re-purposed. The gear is also a lot cheaper, and much more acceptable than ASIC, which often finds a lot of resistance. This is why most miners choose to go for GPU and CPU instead of ASIC.
Of course, there is always an option to have several mining rigs set up, in order to multiply your earnings. However, this means that you will have to acquire them first, which is probably the most expensive option. Even with several mining rigs working at the same time, it will probably take months before you can cover these initial costs via mining. Not to mention other factors, like the cost of an electric bill that is going to skyrocket as soon as you start your mining operation.
The electricity cost varies depending on your location, which makes it hard to precisely calculate the cost of keeping the operation up and running.
Cryptocurrency Cloud Mining Pools: Profitable or Not?
Calculating the costs of cloud mining, on the other hand, is a much easier process. A lot of companies are using monthly subscriptions, with their cost being determined by the targeted crypto that the user wants to mine. Additionally, the cost of the model is also determined by the hash rate speeds.
For example, taking a contract for 2 years of mining Ethereum with Genesis Mining can cost anywhere between $1,520 and $12,960, depending on the speed which can go from 40 MH/s to 360 MH/s.
On the other hand, there is a website called HashFlare, which can provide you with a contract that lasts only one year, and it costs $1.80 for 100 KH/s.
The fact is that cloud mining is expensive as well, and not that profitable at first. You will probably need more than a year to cover the cost of the initial investment. A lot of people don’t do their research properly, which is why they enter the process expecting to get rich in less than 6 months. This is, of course, never the case.
Generally, cloud mining is not that profitable at all. Because of that, it is also not the popular way of crypto mining. Monthly subscriptions will always be there, but it won’t always be easy to pay them off. There are always the USB mining options but they are not very powerful.
If you choose to go with the mining hardware, the costs will be upfront, and you will know what you are getting into. The cost of electricity will be a bit more difficult to predict, but if you can afford to perform your mining operation in parts of the world where the electricity is cheap, and mining is legal, you can actually make a pretty good profit much faster.

WHICH CRYPTOCURRENCIES TO MINE?

WHICH CRYPTOCURRENCIES TO MINE – BETTER BITCOINS OR OTHERS? Before revealing which cryptocurrencies to mine, let´s disciss first, what Cryptocurrencies are. Cryptocurrencies are virtual currency units that are becoming increasingly popular as a means of payment.
Making the right choice is necessary to mine cryptocurrency profitably in 2018. Many new cryptographic currencies have appeared lately.
Nowadays, it’s no longer necessary to use only Bitcoin, even if the cryptocurrency is one of the most popular with a high value. It’s almost impossible to mine them without the help of special equipment.
Another point to consider is how to handle mining multiple cryptocurrency types. They are not inaccessible at their asking price and can be mined without any particular difficulties.
Even with an everyday computer, mining efforts can yield impressive results. As you can see, there are more possibilites about which cryptocurrencies to mine.
Of course, you can also mine Bitcoins on your laptop, but doing so is inefficient and unprofitable. However, it’s important to show caution when choosing which cryptocurrencies to mine.
Which cryptocurrencies to mine? Make the Right Choice Don’t look at the current price of the cryptocurrency, but rather how easy it is to mine and what profit projections look like. For example, if it grows in price, it will be able to recover the investments spent on its extraction. In addition, the choice of cryptocurrency and mining service depends on whether it is possible to withdraw funds.
Which cryptocurrencies to mine? The Best Cryptographic Currencies for Mining Everyone is interested in simple but profitable ways of making more money, even when this money has a virtual format. However, if the currency can be exchanged for real money, it means that a real deal is to be had and deserves special attention.
These currencies can be assigned to several virtual delegates. This article aims to uncover the most promising cryptographic currencies online today.
They can be mined from virtually any device, including a conventional computer, provided it has a sufficient processor speed and an appropriate graphics card.
It’s important to remember that the choice of graphics card is a rather vital matter, due to the fact that using a video card was abandoned during Bitcoin mining. It simply became too expensive.
As a result, income from mining is practically lost against the background of costs. This article outlines the most promising alternatives that are beneficial for planned 2018 cryptocurrency mining.
Which cryptocurrencies to mine? A Selection of Popular Cryptocurrencies Ethereum. This currency still seems like an heir of Bitcoin, but it is growing incredibly quickly. It only cost 40 dollars at the beginning of 2017, and 893 dollars one year later.
But currency is unstable and this must be recognized. There are inherent leaps in the price – if it costs more than $800 dollars today, the price may drop to $600-700 tomorrow.
Therefore, you should consider whether this currency is worth it before investing in mining.
Lightcoin. Another very interesting choice for mining. The cost of this cryptocurrency won’t make you sweat, with modest prices of £250 per piece. The competition in the mining of this cryptocurrency is minimal, which makes mining it relatively easy.
In addition, experts say that Lightcoin is the most stable currency available and its exchange rate is subject to minor jumps.
Dash is a promising currency was added to the rating recently. This is one of the youngest options out there, but it has already received plenty of attention.
Experts say that it has a chance to grow to several thousand dollars. Consider that the asking costs were $11 just a few months ago, yet are an impressive $1,165 today.
Each of these cryptocurrencies can be described as the most profitable choice for mining, but only thorough practice will show whether this is truly the case.
What Crypto-Based Currencies Actually Mine? Some will say that mining in 2018 is no longer profitable and many will agree with this statement. However, the validity of this ultimately depends on the choice of currency you’re focusing on.
Bitcoin Mining is certainly no longer profitable, but what other options are out there? Turn to the service website “WhattoMine.com” for more input on which cryptocurrencies to mine.
This service is specially designed for those working in mining. It allows you to calculate the most profitable cryptographic currency that you can with your graphics card or ASICs.
On the page, select which type of hardware (graphics card or ASICs) you are using, then enter the correct information in the requested fields. Performance of your equipment, including hashing speed and energy consumption, are essential pieces of info that need to be entered.
When done, hit “Calculate” and you will get information about how much you can earn if you mine this or that – which cryptocurrencies to mine.
Cryptocurrencies to mine – Mining On What? CPU (mining on the processor). Given the current complexity, such a mine is no longer profitable.
Mining on the operative memory, for example, if the currency uses the encryption algorithm Scrypt. You could mine, but it’s not really very profitable nowadays.
GPU (Mining on the graphics card). The disadvantages of this method are quite great. The energy consumption and the price of a good graphics card are pricey, but despite these disadvantages, this type of mining is by far one of the best options out there.
For example, in comparison to the same mining on the ASICs, you can always sell on the graphics card at a good price. There is always a demand and in the case of damage, it can be replaced during its warranty period.
The best graphics card for mining is the GTX 1070 with 28 Mh/s, along with cheaper versions like the RX 470 and 480.
ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits). These units have been specially developed for the mining of cryptocurrencies.
However, the high costs and the high risks are a downside, since they are difficult to repair in the event of damage. This is the conclusion about which cryptocurrencies to mine.

You should be mining. Don't worry about what the other miners are saying. Start mining now.

So I'm waiting for the influx of "no don't do that it's a waste of money posts" but the primary argument against it is : You won't make back the money you'll spend on the electric bill. Well.. of course you won't, if you sell the bitcoins at the spot rate today. But let's be honest - you're not mining to sell today are you? I know I'm not.
The USD/BTC rate is just about 20 USD now. People never expected it to go above parity with the dollar (ie 1 USD = 1 BTC), but it has done that massively. "Just for interests sake" put an exchange rate of 100 USD to the 1 BTC in the mining calculators ... now even that 100 MH/s card seems reasonable value to run right ?
I also find it interesting that the only people telling you NOT to mine ... are the people already mining !! (No you don't need to dig the gold here fellah - we've got it covered!).
What about ASICs? Well... when they do materalize, then by all means stop, take stock, figure out if you want to buy one or not and then make an informed decision. Not one ASIC has shipped yet... Not one. And the "leading" supplier of these unicorns has just asked for pre-orders of approx 900k USD when .. they haven't even shipped the first batch !!
So.. download guiminer. Get yourself in a pool and start earning some bitcoins.
If you don't know which pool to join, then join me here : https://ragmondo.triplemining.com/ until you've done more research about which pool might suit you best.

Cloudmining and my thoughts on it

WARNING: LOGIC AND LONG READING AND OPINIONS AHEAD
TL;DR at bottom. (Too long, didn't read)
I think that cloud mining just isn't ready. There are a few reasons why, and I will go over them right now.
Cloud mining isn't ready because it's a vey new method and idea. There are some pros and cons of cloud mining, but at this point I see most of them as cons. There are lots of them and I don't feel like gonig through them all but I will go through the important ones.
Cloud mining is, face it, expensive as hell. All my sources are of ZeusHash wich seem to be the lowest prices. It is 16 dollars per Megahash. Doing that calculations; this would pay off in about 142 days (litecoin) and that is if the exchange rates stay the same. I have absolutely no patience as most people. If you really want to do the math, you would earn eleven cents (USD) every day. That seems like a lot until the exchange rate changes.
Sure, you don't have to manage the hardware and power costs, but here are the cons. You can't modify the hardware or overclock anything. All you see is the "main screen" and you can't see so much as the tempature of the hardware. Power costs? As far as I'm concerned, I can just put a solar pannel on my roof and be on my jolly way. The worst part? It takes away the fun of figuring out computer parts, and you actually have to wear pants (to work) if you want to when Cloud Mining takes over (nerds will understand, we love putting stuff together).
Instead of walking upstairs to trobuleshoot, you would have to go contact the host and run through that. If you are mining alone, the only fees you are paying are the pool fees (if any).
You can also point your miners to anything that you want. With cloud mining, the only options seem to be Bitcoin (and Litecoin on ZeusHash). With your own miners, you can point them to any coin in any pool. You can make them mine for a multi-pool and you aren't stuck with one pool. You are way more free with your hashing power as you should be.
This is how I think cloud mining should run:
You buy the miners. You can choose the pool and change it at any time. Overclocking adds a fee, but a very small one at that. You can set custom payouts, and point your miners to whatever.
This is how cloud mining really runs:
You can't choose your pool or coin. You have no option of when the payouts are, and you can't change the pools.
At this point in time, cloud mining isn't ready. Don't sell your miners and keep them running. Here's what I am doing:
TL;DR:
I'm just buying a TINY bit of hashing power to support the whole idea of Cloud Mining and making it better, but I'll keep my Gaw Miner Fury's running at 2.5 mh/s earning me 28 cents (USD) per day. It's a good idea and it's changing fast. It will be good in the future, but now is not the time to be dumping EVERYTHING into it.
As always, to the moon!

It seems to good to be true, so I'd like to know why.

So I've looked at doing Bitcoin mining for a while now, and I've just had a CPU running on a computer doing mining so far. I came across the clevermining.com pool and it states right now that the BTC/day per MH/s is about 0.000180 (source). Looking at some of the USB ASIC hardware, I came across the HexFury 11GH/s stick. So just looking at the amount of BTC/day I could make:
0.000180 BTC/day / MH/s * 11000 MH/s = 1.98 BTC/day
$257.19/BTC * 1.98 BTC/day = $509.23/day
I know from reading other sources that you basically need THs of power to produce a few dollars per day in profit, so what I'm I missing in this calculation?
Thanks!

Shibes, now is the time to build our own rocket to the moon! And this is how:

Right now we are in an interesting discussion about our future – the future of our beloved dogechain. It's the backbone of our economy. Every tiny shibe uses the same playground to play and dig and to have all this fun.
Lately, as i'm sure every shibe noticed, we got an offer from litecoin to merge our mining. First of all, thank you ! Thats very kind.
But in my honest opinion, i think we are strong enough to stand on our own little paws. We don't need a bigger brother, who protects us when we are in trouble or someone wants to do us harm.
We are already strong enough to protect us on our own. And we found good friends in the playground, like the good guys from Digibyte.
But we have to be aware of our future. We have to defend ourself when we are threatened. We have to protect our dogechain.
The critical point is reached, when our blockreward is not enough to keep all the miners digging. The less people dig, the lower is our security of our dogechain. Especially when the first asic miners get released and only a few of them can totally overcome our global hashrate.
Yes, we can fight them if we change our algorithm to sCrypt-n, or Keccak, or X11, or...
We become a pure PoS Coin after the last block halving.
In my opinion we should get rid of the old PoW system, after the point we are fully mined out (our blockreward hits 10k coins). Instead we should change to pure PoS with an interest of 1-5% per year.
This would favour every shibe who believes in our coin. Just imagine the crazy buying and mining mania after everyone understands that dogecoins are limited. It would also make our blockchain safe to 51% PoW attacks!
This would also allow everyone to participate in the network, practically you could PoS mine with every smartphone or laptop or tablet, you just need your wallet on the device ! Every shibe can participate !!
And for our well experienced digging shibes, we could start our own Doge-Multipool for every other hash algorythm.
Right now our network is at 80 gigahash ! Thats 80000 megahash, or in other words:
360(!) bitcoin buying power every day! (if you calculate with 0,0045 btc/mh)
Now imagine that people pour 200k dollar in our economy every day. We can create Doge-Multipools for sCrypt-n, X11, Keccak or even Sha256! Imagine people to mine bitcoins, just to get paid out in dogecoins! Doesn't that sound to good to be true ? Well maybe, but we have 1 year in front of us to build our rocket.
And i honestly think, that this is the most efficient rocket to fly us to the moon. All of us !

New to bitcoins. Can anyone give me a rundown of this?

As the title says, I'm new to Bitcoins. I started mining a few days ago for fun, I have a Radeon 5970 that I use for gaming so I thought...well, why not? Also, got started with BitMinter since it was so easy, but I'm open to other mining pools.
Anyways, on to the questions:
  1. Why has the price been soaring the last few days? Is it because the ASIC machines just hit the market?
  2. With the new ASICs out, is it even worth GPU mining anymore? I get about 600 MH/s, and given current prices I can make a decent amount of USD (not saying I would, but it's an idea.) If I had some disposable income to buy an ASIC machine, would that even be a good idea at this juncture? It seems with the bubble this will be a new fad.
  3. Speaking of exchange rate, what kind of things can you buy with BitCoins? I'm not a big TOR or drug user, so SR is out of the question. Aside from that, in all my searches most of the services seem to be..quirky at best. Design services, web hosting, and T-shirts. Is there anything else to buy?
  4. What are some decent mining pools? I've read a bit, and it looks like BitMinter is pretty good. MtRed has been down so I haven't tried that. BTC Guild seems HUGE, is there an advantage to being in such a large pool like that?
  5. What are these hashes actually USED for? When I think of other at-home calculation software, like folding at home, or SETI, they all have distinct purposes. What's actually being solved when I solve a block?
  6. I want to invest in BitCoins. The stock market has always fascinated me, and it seems like BitCoins could be a very similar venture. I've also thought about investing in a BitMining company; might not make as much money as a getting a 1500GH/s machine, but it'd still be a worthwhile investment I think. Good idea? Bad?
  7. How likely is a crash? It seems the price has gone up by about 100x in a month. What are the ramifications of this? Is there going to a bubble-burst model in the foreseeable future?
  8. What's the end-game for BitCoins? Is it supposed to completely take over the dollar? Be a supplement to it?
  9. How likely is it that the US government will get involved in this? I know it'd be very hard to take BitCoin down, but given the level of traffic it's getting it almost seems likely.
  10. Last but not least: How does one actually buy and sell Bitcoins for USD? I've looked into the big bit exchanges, like MtGox, and apparently all you really need is some BitCoins and Dwolla. Is it really that easy? How long does a transfer to and from Dwolla and MtGox usually take?
Thanks in advance. I think I had more questions, but this should be enough for now.
